Tallahassee, Florida – June 14, 2012 – The Florida Medical Association (FMA), representing more than 20,000 physician members in Florida, has endorsed Republican candidate Heather Fitzenhagen for the Florida House of Representatives, District 78. The association represents medical professionals in issue of legislation and regulatory affairs, medical economics and education, public health, and ethical and legal issues. The association also advocates to ensure the highest standards of medical practice.

“I am honored to have the endorsement of the FMA, which does critical work to enhance the quality and availability of health care in our state,” said Fitzenhagen. “The FMA and I both agree that we must bring a better healthcare solution to Florida, one that will be fair to everyone and sustainable for the future.”

The FMA commended Fitzenhagen for her fiscally conservative position on spending, education and healthcare and her support for private enterprise. “Heather Fitzenhagen understands the challenges facing Florida physicians and patients, including the complexities surrounding access to quality, affordable health care,” said John Katopodis, M.D., President of the FMA PAC.  “The FMA is pleased to endorse Heather for the Florida House.”
